Empire Campaign Turn 8 Completed (280-270 BC)

Events this turn were as follows:

• The Romans destroy the Carthaginian mercenary army in Magna Graecia.
• Another Carthaginian army is wiped out in Iberia.
• The Macedonians finally conquer Greece.
• The Persians remove the incursion of Sakae from Bactria, restoring it to imperial control.

A terrible turn for Carthage, but a good one for everyone else.  Unfortunately for the Persians, however, Persia proper has rebelled at the start of Turn 9.  Maybe the disgruntled aristocracy took advantage of the army's absence in Bactria.  This may not be such a bad thing, though, since it creates a bit of a buffer between what's left of the Achaemenid Empire and the Macedonians.  The map now looks like this:

Western Half

Carthage still holds North Africa and Sicily; Rome controls central and southern Italy.  The Macedonians straddle both portions of the map, although gaps are beginning to appear in their territories.

Eastern Half

The Persians have been reduced to two provinces.  Next week, Carthage tries to deal with the irrepressible Iberians for the second time.
